coppermine photo gallery tutorials - uploading photos

You’ve created your category, you’ve created your album, now it’s time to add photos to it. Note: the photos that you’re uploading can go in to different albums and categories, so there’s no need to do seperate uploads for different albums. There is a 5 image limit per upload though.

  1. Click on the Upload File link.
  2. Click the first Browse button and find the file on your computer that you wish to upload. Note, the photos should already be resized and optimised in a program such as Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro so they don’t take too long for your viewers to load and so you don’t fill your hosting space too quickly (but you can always rent more if necessary). You can upload 5 images at a time. Once you have chosen up to 5 images, click Continue. This may take a little time depending on the file size and the speed of your internet connection.
  3. Once your uploads are successful, you’ll get a screen telling you so. Click the Continue button. If they weren’t successful, try one or two at a time.
  4. You are now presented with the first image. Use the drop down box next to Album to select the album this photo is going in to.
  5. In the File Title, give the photo a name, just type normally
ie: Surfing at Bondi Beach 2006
  6. In File Description you can put further information about the photo
ie: Little Timmy & Jimmy on their very first trip to Bondi Beach. They got a little sunburnt.
  7. In Keywords, you can choose to type in key words that apply to this photo as Coppermine has a search facility available. If you don’t wish to do this, simply leave it blank.
  8. Click Continue
  9. Go through steps 4 thru 8 until you have put details in for all the photos you just uploaded
