cube cart tutorials ~ editing text on the homepage

IF we have set up your shopping cart to display the 'homepage' that belongs to the shopping cart software, there’s a box on your homepage at the top where there’s a heading and a couple of paragraphs of text. You can update this information yourself.

Before you do, please contact us, we have to give you temporary access. It only takes a couple of minutes to do.

1. Click the Homepage link in the menu.
2. In the Title box, type the message you want to be bold at the top.
3. The content for the rest of the box goes underneath. Use the tools to bold, italic or colour your text or copy and paste from Microsoft Word and keep all your formatting. Click the Update Homepage button.

BUT I DID THIS AND IT DIDN’T UPDATE THE HOMEPAGE.

There is a reason. Leaving this homepage available for updating constantly provides a potential security hole in the software. On the backend of your website’s server, each file gets a permssion level set. We have to set it up to “allow” you to update this page (and we have to do it here, sorry folks). Once you make your updates, we change the permissions on the file so it can’t be updated again. It’s a security thing.

So, if you tried changing the text on the front page, didn't contact us first and it didn’t take, email us and tell us, we’ll change the permission settings, then change them back when you’re done.
