adobe photoshop elements tutorials - crop a photo
When you have a photo, there may beuseless information in the photo that you'd like to remove. The crop tool can help here.
- Open the photo you wish to crop File > Open.
- Down the left side of the program, there are a bunch of icons. In the third group down, underneath the giant T, is the crop tool. If you hover over the tools with your mouse, their name will pop up. Click on the Crop Tool to select it.
- At this stage, if the photo is too large and you have to scroll up and down or left to right to see it all, you need to make it smaller. From the menu choose View > Fit On Screen.
- When you hover your mouse over the photo now, the crop tool will appear as your mouse cursor. Click & drag over the photo to choose the area you want to crop.
- Once you let go of the mouse button, the section you want to keep will be highlighted, and the section you're cutting away will be darkened. If you're happy with the selection, click the little green tick just underneath your new selection.
- If you're not happy with the selection either click the red circle and try again or use your mouse anywhere around the edge of the selection to drag it in to position. Click the green tick when you're happy
- Now go to the resize tutorial if you want to resize the image. Even if you don't want to resize the image, please make sure you Save For Web (steps 5 to 8 in the resize tutorial)
