setting up email accounts

outlook express (XP users) / windows mail (Vista users)
- setting up an email account

  1. Open Outlook Express
  2. Click on Tools then Accounts
  3. Once the pop up window appears, click on Add then Mail
  4. In the Display Name box, type in what you want your display name to be (when people check their email, and it says who the email is from, this is what they see - so either make it your name, your business name or a combination of the two) then click NEXT
  5. Email address - type your email address in here then click NEXT
  6. Incoming Mail Server (Drop down box)- leave this set at POP3
    Incoming Mail Server (text field) - will be mail.yourdomainname.com.au (but make sure what's after mail. is actually YOUR address)
    Outgoing Mail Server - you must use the one provided by your Internet Service Provider. (If you try to use ours, chances are it's being blocked if you're on broadband and your email won't work)
    Click NEXT
  7. Account Name - is your full email address
    Password - is the password be supplied
    Click NEXT
  8. Click Finish. You're done!

outlook express (XP users) / windows mail (Vista users)
- filtering your email in to another folder

  1. Open Outlook Express (and ensure the email account is already set up first - ie: the above tutorial)
  2. Tools > Message Rules > Mail
  3. Option 1 - choose Where the message is from the specified account, then jump down to the Option 3 box & click on the word specified (it's blue and underlined). Choose the email account you wish to filter from the drop down box then click OK.
  4. Option 2 - Choose Move it to the specified folder, then jump down to the Option 3 box & click on the word specified (it's blue and underlined). Choose your folder and click OK. If the folder does not exist, use the New Folder button to create it.
  5. Option 4 - name the rule (type something in so you'll know what the rule is for)
  6. Click OK to finish.

outlook 2003
- setting up an email account

  1. Open Outlook
  2. Click on Tools then Email Accounts
  3. Select Add a new e-mail account, then click NEXT
  4. Choose POP3 tthen click NEXT
  5. USER INFORMATION

    Email Address - type your email address in here
  6. LOGON INFORMATION
    User Name: is your full email address
    Password: type in the password given to you
  7. SERVER INFORMATION
    Incoming Mail Server (POP3) - will be mail.yourdomainname.com.au (but make sure what's after mail. is actually YOUR address)
    Outgoing Mail Server - you must use the one provided by your Internet Service Provider. (If you try to use ours, chances are it's being blocked if you're on broadband and your email won't work)
  8. Click NEXT
  9. Click FINISH. You're done!

outlook 2007
- setting up an email account

  1. Open Outlook
  2. Click on Tools then Account Settings
  3. Click on the Email tab, then click NEW
  4. Check the Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP or HTTP option then click NEXT
  5. Place a tick in the box next to Manually configure server settings or additional server types
  6. Choose Internet Email, then click NEXT
  7. In the Your Name box, type in what you want your display name to be (when people check their email, and it says who the email is from, this is what they see - so either make it your name, your business name or a combination of the two) then click NEXT
  8. Email address - type your email address
  9. Account Type - choose POP3
