x-cart ~ change image
On many of the admin pages within the x-cart software, you have the ability to upload images (images that you should have already resized and optimised in image editing software such as Adobe Photoshop Elements). Although this is a very simple process, here's a tutorial just in case!
- Click the Change Image button
- A pop up window now appears. There are three different places you can choose images from. File on your local computer will be the most used option. Also, read the warning at step 5 with regards to the File on the internet option.
- File on this server - if you wish to use an image that has already been uploaded choose this option
Click the browse button. Find your image, then click Select. CLick Apply to save your choice.
- File on your local computer - this will be the most common option, used for uploading an image that you have stored on your computer. Click the browse button. Find the file on your computer, then click the Open button. Click Apply & wait for the file to be uploaded. Note: there is a 2mb limit & you want to make sure all your images have a small file size anyway.
- File on the internet - you can link to a file already on a website somewhere. If the file is on your website, that's fine. If it's on someone elses website, you really shouldn't do this. It's bandwidth theft and not looked upon favourably on the internet. (I have known people in the past to change images when they find out people are hotlinking to them and putting words on the images like "this dickhead stole my image", so don't do this!!!)
Using your browser, (Internet Explorer), hover over the image you want to use, right click and choose Properties. Copy the full URL of the image (in IE it says Address, in Firefox it says Location), and paste it in box provided in x-cart. Click Apply.
