x-cart ~ membership to your shop

It is possible to have memberships to your online shop so various people can login and have access to special pricing and/or "member only" categories. You can have more than one membership group.

setting up the membership group

Chances are, we have already done this for you. If you would like to do it yourself, please let me know so I can write a tutorial.

adding members manually

  1. Click on Users in the management section.
  2. Click on Create Customer Profile
  3. Fill in their Personal Information, Billing Address, Ship To A Different Address (if applicable) & Contact Information from the information you have received from the client.
  4. In the Username & Password section:-
Membership - use the drop down box to choose the membership group you would like to join this person to.
Username - create a user name for this person
Password - create a password for this person (they will be able to change it later)
Confirm Password - type the password again to make sure there were no typos
Account Status - use the drop down box to change to enabled.
Required to change password on next log in - place a tick if you'd like the user to change this password
  5. Click SAVE
  6. You will now need to write to the member and give them the user name & password so they can access your site.

authorising membership applications

  1. Each time someone asks to become a member online (either by clicking REGISTER or doing it through the checkout process), you will receive an email. Next to Signup for membership:, it will say whether they have requested to become a member, and list the name of the group.
  2. To find the user, click on Users in the Management section of the navigation, then Search for Users. Type the person's user name in the box provided then click Search.
  3. Click on the name of the user to modify it.
  4. Scroll down to the Username & Password section.
  5. Change the drop down box at Membership to reflect the name of the membership group you're authorising.
  6. Make sure Account Status says Enabled.
  7. Click SAVE.
